In 1930's Nova Scotia, she takes a position as a housekeeper for an irascible peddler and the two find acceptance in their small village. Sally Hawkins and Ethan Hawke give superb performances in this story of art and love overcoming adversity.

An arthritic Nova Scotia woman works as a housekeeper while she hones her skills as an artist and eventually becomes a beloved figure in the community.
