From his haunting portrayal of a Vietnam War captain in Apocalypse Now to his powerful performances as John F. Kennedy (Kennedy), Robert E. Lee (Gettysburg), Eddie Slovik (The Execution of Private Slovik), Robert F. Kennedy (The Missiles of October), J. Edgar Hoover (Judas and the Black Messiah), and the beloved fictional President Josiah Bartlet (The West Wing), Sheen has had a profound impact on America’s understanding of its history. Through film clips and personal stories, Sheen will share insights on the challenges of stepping into these iconic roles and how portraying history has influenced his own perspective on leadership, conflict, and the human experience. The event will be moderated by Anna Deavere Smith, Sheen’s longtime friend and colleague who worked with him on The West Wing and The American President.
